Sgrafitti plaster wall decorations

This is an antique wall decoration technique consisting of an application of a lime-based plaster which can have its natural grey color or can be colored using terra cotta instead of sand and colored pigments, and later tinted ‘a fresco’, usually with lime.

Before the plaster has dried a design is incised into the last layer of paint and part of the plaster. It can be used on internal or external surfaces.
